Do you remember the first time you discovered you have a passion for cooking? If you have any special kitchen stories or memories, please share them with us.
I always liked food, but I didn’t realize how special it could be until I got married and had someone I wanted to feed and show my love through food to.
Which part of the food blogging work do you prefer – envisioning a new recipe in your mind and cooking it; writing stories about the recipe; or getting creative with the food styling and food photography? And why?
My favorite part is the social media, because it’s the most interactive and fun for me. I like food photography – though even after all these years it still makes me nervous and stresses me out the most.
What do you wish you had known when you first started food blogging?
I wish I had realized how big video was and to jump in both feet.
What are your most used kitchen utensils and tools and what would you recommend to a beginner cook?
It’s expensive–but a Kitchen Aid – it’s a workhorse and you’ll use it all the time. It’s worth the investment.
When do you feel most inspired or creative as a food blogger?
When I scroll the internet. I love seeing ideas that are popping up.
What’s your go-to advice for someone struggling to find their unique voice or niche in the food blogging world?
It’s tough – I feel for them. A niche was kind of thrust upon me due to my son’s food allergy diagnosis. Keep searching, keep asking your friends and family how they’d define you and your cooking style – sometimes we’re so used to seeing ourselves that we don’t realize what makes us unique.

We hope you enjoyed this glimpse into the allergy-friendly food space of Megan Lavin from Allergy Awesomeness.
